How it works

Three steps. One lower tax bill.

We do the research a professional tax consultant would do. You do the part that's actually easy: submitting it.

1

Check your assessment

Enter your address. We pull your county's assessed value, compare similar homes, and tell you plainly whether you have a case — free.

2

Get your Appeal Package

Comparable sales, an equity argument where your state allows it, your county's form pre-filled, and a cover letter — every number sourced.

3

File it and we'll track it

Follow the walkthrough for your county's portal. We remind you of every date and tell you what to say at the informal review.

The Appeal Package

Everything the county needs to say yes.

Built with the methodology professional consultants use, formatted the way review boards expect to read it.

Comparable sales analysis

Recent sales matched on size, lot, age, and distance — with each adjustment shown, so the number is defensible, not just lower.

Equity (unequal appraisal) comparison

In Texas the strongest argument is often that similar homes are assessed lower than yours. We find them from the county roll and build the table.

Your county's form, pre-filled

Texas Form 50-132 and its equivalents, filled from your record, plus an editable cover letter.

County-specific filing walkthrough

Your appraisal district's portal, what to upload, what to expect at each stage, and a hearing script.

The Property Tax Account

A package is one season. An account is every season.

Other services sell you a PDF and disappear. DoAppeal keeps watching your parcel so you never miss a notice, a deadline, or an exemption you're owed.

Notice watch

We detect the day your assessor posts a new value and compute your personal appeal deadline.

Deadline & hearing alerts

Email and text at each stage: filing window, informal review, hearing date, decision.

Exemption alerts

Homestead, over-65, veteran, freeze — flagged when you qualify, with the form ready.

Rate, bill & history

Proposed rate hearings, bill due dates, escrow impact after a win, and your full record.

The appraiser offered $585,000. Should I take it?
That's $27,400 below your notice but still $36,100 above your six comps. Your equity table is the stronger card: similar homes are assessed at $178/sq ft, and $585k puts you at $196. I'd counter at $556,000 citing comps 1, 3 and 6. Accepting saves about $580 this year; holding out could reach $1,340.

FAQ

Questions homeowners ask us

Still unsure? Email hello@doappeal.com — a person answers.

Do I have to go to a hearing?

Almost never. Most residential appeals settle by mail or in an informal review with an appraiser. If yours goes further, your package includes a hearing script and the Assistant can rehearse it with you.

What if there's no case?

The free check tells you before you pay. If you buy a package and the data doesn't support an honest appeal, we refund you automatically — you don't have to ask.

Can my assessment go up because I appealed?

Not in Texas. In a few states, such as Georgia and Washington, a board can raise a value on a weak appeal. We flag that risk in the free check before you file.

Is DoAppeal a law firm or tax agent?

No. We're a data and software service. We give you the evidence and the instructions; you file under your own name and keep 100% of the savings.

What if my county isn't covered yet?

The free check still runs and tells you what we can and can't do. Join the waitlist and we'll email you the day your county goes live.
